With the second-most Salmonella cases in the nation, Ohio is set to take part in a multi-state investigation taken by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (Source: “Ohio part of multi-state salmonella investigation,” Dayton Daily News, Jan. 6, 2009).
The Ohio Department of Health officials said the 50 cases identified since October among Ohio residents share a DNA fingerprint and appear to have a common origin. In all, there are 336 cases
nationwide that match the DNA.
The Ohio cases occurred in 18 counties. Cuyahoga County had the most cases, with 14.
