Hospital leaders in Ohio have begun calling Gov. Ted Strickland to complain that they are not receiving their allotment of H1N1 vaccinations (Source: “Hospitals clash with Ohio health officials over H1N1 vaccine,” Cleveland Plain Dealer, Oct. 24, 2009).
According to a Ohio Department of Health spokesman Robert Jennings, 900 doses of the H1N1 vaccine were incorrectly sent to Cleveland-area Walgreens stores on Friday instead of hospitals. He said ODH officials meet with officials from the Ohio Hospital Association to work out issues with the distribution process.
"We have such a small amount of vaccine. Everyone is clamoring for as much as they can get," Jennings said. "After meeting with the association today, we believe there was a lot more clarity on the ordering and distribution process."
