Less than a week after federal officials announced rules for the establishment of state health insurance exchanges, the Health Policy Institute of Ohio convened nearly 20 stakeholders to begin analyzing the impact of the rules.
On March 13, the Obama administration released a series of documents outlining final and interim-final rules for the establishment of exchanges and responding to previous comments on proposed rules(source: “New healthcare exchange rules issued for states,” Reuters, March 13, 2012).
The goal of HPIO’s Exchange Rules Analysis Committee is to review the interim and final exchange-related rules issued by the federal government and assess the implications to Ohio and Ohioans of various exchange-related options. ERAC members are scheduled to meet twice in April to continue working on analysis of the rules. HPIO anticipates that a series of documents will come out of the work.
